Role Overview
As a Full-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Newmarket, you'll deliver outstanding pet parent experiences while caring for store pets and maintaining a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role offers flexibility, development, and the joy of working with animals in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide hands-on care for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets—including feeding, cleaning, and vet-directed medications.
- Execute merchandising tasks: facing/filling products, staging new inventory, weekly price changes, and promotional setups.
- Promote sales, services, live pets, and events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets and transport as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, handle flexible schedules (evenings/weekends/holidays), and meet physical demands: lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, ladder use, and animal exposure in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and composure are essential.
