Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) is the heart of our stores, delivering outstanding pet parent experiences, maintaining pet safety standards, and keeping our Newtown location spotless and stocked. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet care, customer interaction, and merchandising in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions, including seamless online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Execute merchandising tasks like product staging, facing, filling, recovery, price changes, and promotional setups.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets and transport to vet if needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication skills, schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for moderate noise/pet hair essential.
