Role Overview
The Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) is the heart of our store, delivering outstanding pet parent experiences while maintaining pet safety and store standards. This full-time role in Omaha, NE involves customer engagement, pet care, merchandising, and operational support in a dynamic retail environment filled with live animals and enthusiastic shoppers.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed meds.
- Execute merchandising tasks like stocking, facing products, price changes, and recovery to sales floor standards.
- Promote sales, services, events (adoptions, Treats enrollment), and ensure a safe environment for pets, associates, and customers.
- Respond urgently to sick/injured pets, transport to vet if needed, and flex across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
Entry-level friendly with no prior experience required. Ideal candidates have strong communication, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, ladder use, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas. Depth perception and animal handling comfort essential.
