Role Overview
As a Full-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Ottawa, Ontario store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, customer service, and merchandising in a dynamic retail setting focused on pet happiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, offer scheduling flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), and meet physical demands: standing, lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, handling animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and composure are essential.
