Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding customer service, cares for store pets, and maintains a clean, safe store. This entry-level role is perfect for animal lovers ready to engage pet parents, handle live animals, and contribute to store success in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet customers and prepare pick-up orders.
- Deliver pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed medications.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, stage new items, support price changes and promotions.
- Promote sales, services, live pets, and events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain safety standards, respond to sick/injured pets, and assist across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Depth perception and animal handling comfort essential.
