Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Phoenix, AZ, you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain an exceptional store experience. This entry-level role offers flexibility, impact, and rewards for animal lovers ready to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, and recover sales floor.
- Recommend merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets immediately.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50lbs+, stand/walk extensively, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments). Ladder climbing and team lifts for heavier items common.
