Role Overview
Our full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) is the heart of the store, delivering outstanding pet parent experiences while caring for live animals. This entry-level role combines customer service, pet care, and merchandising in a fast-paced environment. Located in Renton, Washington, you'll thrive in a supportive team committed to pet safety, store excellence, and community events.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed meds.
- Merchandise the sales floor: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes, and maintain cleanliness.
- Sell products/services/live pets, promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who stay composed under pressure, lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work flexible hours (evenings/weekends/holidays). Comfort with live animals, moderate noise, pet hair, and physical demands is essential. Specific vision (depth perception) and team-lifting for 100+ lbs required.
