Role Overview

As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Richmond, VA store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and drive sales while upholding our vision of exceptional pet experiences. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, customer service, and store operations in a fun, pet-filled environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
• Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
• Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock merchandise, and recover sales floor.
• Recommend products, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
• Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.

Experience & Skills

No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators with schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and handle animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled setting. Vision for depth perception and team lifting for heavier items required.
