Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in Riverhead, New York, involves customer engagement, merchandising, pet health, and safety in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and sales at register.
- Manage pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed meds; respond to sick pets.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, handle price changes and promotions.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safe environment for associates, pets, and customers; assist across store including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—training provided. Ideal candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, handle animals in moderate noise/wet conditions). Passion for pets is key.
