Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Rochester, NY store, you'll deliver outstanding pet parent experiences while caring for live animals. This entry-level role combines customer service, pet care, and store operations, offering flexibility and impact every day. Stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and thrive in a pet-filled workspace with moderate noise and occasional high-energy moments.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and sales recommendations.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed meds.
- Execute merchandising tasks like stocking, facing products, price changes, and maintaining cleanliness/safety standards.
- Promote events (adoptions, Treats enrollment) and respond swiftly to pet health issues, including vet transport.
- Support all store areas, follow policies, and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Bring strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina for standing, lifting, climbing, and animal handling. Depth perception and teamwork are essential in this fast-paced, pet-hair-filled setting.
