Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, maintains store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in our Santa Rosa location involves customer engagement, merchandising, and pet safety in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and sales at register.
- Handle pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed meds.
- Ensure store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, and recover sales floor to standards.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain safe environment, respond to sick/injured pets, and assist across store including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and handle animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and team-lifting for 100+ lbs needed.
