PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in Schererville offers flexibility, impact, and daily joy—from helping select a first pet to ensuring safe, clean environments amid live animals and bustling retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction via in-person, phone, register, and online interactions; prepare pickup orders seamlessly.
- Maintain pet health by feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administering vet-directed meds.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes, and recover sales floor.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick pets and maintain cleanliness.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—training provided. Ideal candidates have strong communication, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and physical stamina to lift 50lbs+, climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Passion for animals is key.
