Role Overview
As a full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Union, New Jersey, you'll engage pet parents and pets, deliver outstanding service, maintain store standards, and care for live animals. This entry-level role offers flexibility, impact, and daily joy in a pet-loving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Pet Engagement
- Greet pet parents, answer questions, handle online pickups, and recommend products/services.
- Promote events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
Pet Care & Store Operations
- Feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed meds.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and maintain cleanliness/safety.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, transport to vet if needed.
Team Support
- Assist across store areas, follow policies, and foster a culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Entry-level welcome! Need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50lbs (team lift 100+), stand/walk, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments. Passion for pets required.
