Role Overview
Our full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) is the heart of the store, delivering exceptional experiences for pet parents and their furry, scaly, or feathered friends. You'll handle customer interactions, pet care, store operations, and sales while upholding our commitment to pet safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the pet parent experience across in-person, phone, register, and online channels by greeting customers, answering questions, and preparing online orders.
- Provide direct care for store-owned pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store standards through cleaning, product recovery, merchandising, price changes, and stocking new arrivals.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets while promoting events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, offer scheduling flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), and meet physical demands: standing, lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, and handling animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and composure are essential.
