Role Overview
PetSmart's full-time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in Whittier involves customer engagement, merchandising, pet health, and safety in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions; greet customers and prepare online orders.
- Manage pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, and recover sales floor to standards.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Ideal candidates have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing). Exposure to animals, moderate noise, and wet environments is common.
