Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Airdrie, Alberta, you'll engage pet parents and their pets while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, values, and strategy. Share responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care. Enjoy flexibility while making a meaningful impact daily—helping customers choose their first fish or celebrating pet milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet customers and prepare pick-up orders.
- Provide pet healthcare for store-owned pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store standards: cleanliness, product facing/filling, weekly price changes, and merchandising per sales floor plans.
- Recommend, inform, and sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and assist across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), composure under pressure, and physical capability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and handle animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and team lifting for heavier items needed.
