Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) at our Ajax store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming store environment. This entry-level role offers hands-on pet interaction, customer service, and merchandising in a dynamic pet retail setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is a plus! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, handle physical demands (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing), and love animals. Must be flexible with scheduling and committed to our values.
Physical Demands & Environment
Expect moderate noise, pet hair, wet areas, and animal handling. Vision for depth perception and team lifting over 100 lbs may be needed. Reasonable accommodations available.
