Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll engage pet parents and their pets, deliver positive experiences, and uphold PetSmart's vision. Share store maintenance, pet safety, and direct pet care responsibilities in a dynamic retail environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key in this entry-level role.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stoop, kneel, and handle pets. Exposed to moderate noise, wet areas, pet hair, and live animals. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Sell merchandise/services/live pets, promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, parents; respond to sick/injured pets with vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is priority! Need strong communication, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility. Thrive in fast-paced settings with physical demands and animal exposure.
