Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) at our Belleville store, you'll be the friendly face for pet parents, delivering outstanding service while caring for live animals. This entry-level role combines customer engagement, pet care, and store operations in a dynamic retail environment. Ideal for animal lovers seeking rewarding part-time work with evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions including order pickups.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and vet-directed medications.
- Maintain pristine store standards: merchandising, facing products, price changes, and recovery.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, handle physical demands (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing), and embrace flexibility. Comfort with live animals, moderate noise, and wet/hairy environments essential. Specific vision for depth perception needed.
