Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers outstanding pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. This entry-level role in Calgary, AB, involves customer engagement, merchandising, pet health, and safety across a dynamic retail environment with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Manage pet healthcare: feed/water/clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed meds; respond to sick pets.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill/recover products, stage new items, handle price changes/promotions.
- Promote sales, services, events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain cleanliness/safety for associates, pets, and customers; assist across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), standing/walking, ladder use, animal exposure in moderate-noise/wet environments. Depth perception and reasonable accommodations available.
