Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, upholds store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. Based in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, this entry-level role involves customer engagement, merchandising, and pet safety in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and sales recommendations.
- Handle pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment; ensure safe environments and respond to pet health issues.
- Assist across store areas, follow policies, and contribute to a culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Ideal candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, ladder use). Exposure to animals, moderate noise, and wet environments is common.
