Role Overview
Our Part-Time Retail Sales Associates (Pet Associates) deliver outstanding pet parent experiences, maintain store standards, and provide direct care for in-store pets. Based in Chesapeake, Virginia, this entry-level role offers flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with opportunities to advance in pet retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Handle pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed meds.
- Keep store spotless, stock shelves, face products, manage price changes, and promote events like adoptions.
- Recommend products, services, and pets; ensure safety by addressing sick/injured animals immediately.
- Support all store areas, follow policies, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – just a pet-loving attitude! Must have strong communication, flexibility for varied shifts, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for moderate noise/pet hair essential.
