Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate in Chicago, IL, you'll engage pet parents and care for store pets, ensuring positive experiences while maintaining cleanliness and safety. This entry-level role offers flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, ideal for animal lovers seeking impactful retail work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent service in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administer vet-directed meds.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain store safety, cleanliness, and respond to sick/injured pets by transporting to vet if needed.
- Recommend merchandise, services, and live pets to drive sales.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, flexibility for varied shifts, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Vision for depth perception and handling live animals essential.
