Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, maintains store standards, and provides direct pet care. Based in Downers Grove, IL, this entry-level role involves flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Manage pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed meds.
- Uphold cleanliness, stock shelves, face products, handle price changes, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
- Recommend products, services, and live pets while supporting all store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing). Exposure to animals, moderate noise, and wet environments is common.
