Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Edmonton, Alberta store, you'll deliver exceptional pet parent experiences, care for live animals, and keep our store sparkling. This entry-level role suits animal lovers ready to engage customers, handle pets, and support store operations in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain merchandising standards: face/fill shelves, stage products, execute price changes, and recover sales floor.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and transport to vet if needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! You need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Comfort with animals, moderate noise, and wet/hairy conditions essential.
