Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Farmingdale, NY, you'll deliver exceptional experiences for pet parents and their pets. This entry-level role involves customer engagement, pet care, store maintenance, and sales, ensuring our store upholds PetSmart's vision of pet safety and satisfaction. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key in this dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through in-person, phone, register, and online interactions, answering questions and preparing orders.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), administer vet-directed meds, and respond to sick/injured pets.
- Maintain pristine store standards: face/fill products, execute price changes, stage merchandise, and promote events like adoptions.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets while ensuring a safe environment for associates, pets, and customers.
- Support all store areas, follow policies, and contribute to our recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is a plus! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, with physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and handle live animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Depth perception and team-lifting for heavier items are essential.
