Role Overview
Our Part-Time Retail Sales Associates (Pet Associates) are the heart of the store, delivering exceptional pet parent experiences while maintaining pet safety, store cleanliness, and operational excellence. Based in Frederick, Maryland, this entry-level role offers flexible hours perfect for pet lovers eager to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Execute merchandising tasks like stocking, facing products, price changes, and sales floor recovery.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain safety standards, respond to pet health issues, and support all store areas as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – just a love for pets! We seek strong communicators with schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Specific vision for depth perception and comfort handling animals essential.
