Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role offers flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, ideal for animal lovers seeking rewarding retail work.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals).
- Stock shelves, face products, handle price changes, and prepare online orders.
- Recommend products, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety: monitor pets, administer vet-directed meds, transport sick pets if needed.
- Maintain store cleanliness and assist across departments.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, flexibility, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50lbs, stand/walk extensively, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments). Depth perception and team lifting for heavier items.
