Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) engages pet parents and pets, upholds company values, maintains store standards, and provides direct pet care. Based in Hammond, Louisiana, this entry-level role offers flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a dynamic pet retail setting with live animals and high customer interaction.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in wet, noisy environments with moderate-high noise and pet hair exposure. Depth perception required; accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage merchandise, support pricing/promotions.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, parents; handle sick/injured pets and transport to vet.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Need strong communication, schedule flexibility, composure under pressure. Ideal for animal lovers eager to learn pet care, sales, and retail operations.
