Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Irving, Texas, you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain an exceptional store experience. This entry-level role offers flexibility, hands-on pet interaction, and pathways to advancement while upholding PetSmart's vision of pet-centric service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store-owned pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock merchandise, and recover sales floor to standards.
- Recommend products, services, and live pets; promote events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and handle live animals in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise and pet hair exposure.
