Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) engages pet parents and cares for store pets in Johnston, RI. Uphold our vision by delivering outstanding service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring pet safety. This dynamic role supports sales, services, and events in a fast-paced retail environment with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction in-person, phone, register, and online; greet, answer questions, prepare pick-up orders.
- Provide direct pet care: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed meds.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and maintain sales floor standards.
- Recommend products, services, live pets; promote adoption events, Treats enrollment, charities.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, parents; respond to sick/injured pets, transport to vet if needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure. Physically demanding: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments. Depth perception and team lifting essential.
