Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll engage pet parents and their pets, deliver exceptional service, and maintain store standards. This entry-level role shares pet care duties, ensures safety, and supports sales across in-store, phone, online pickup, and services. Ideal for animal lovers with flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environments. Exposure to live animals and occasional high noise; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction via greetings, questions, online order prep, and sales recommendations.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (fish, birds, reptiles, small animals), administer vet-directed meds.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, price changes, recover sales floor, stage new inventory.
- Promote events like adoptions, Treats enrollment, charity drives; ensure safe environment.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, transport to vet; assist across store areas as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility. Thrive in dynamic retail with physical demands and live animal interaction.
