Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a welcoming store. This entry-level role supports sales, cleanliness, and pet safety in a dynamic retail environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle animals in moderate noise with pet hair exposure. Depth perception required; accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), administer vet-directed meds.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and maintain cleanliness standards.
- Recommend products, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, parents; handle sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – passion for pets suffices. Must have strong communication, composure under pressure, and physical stamina. Thrive in fast-paced settings with live animals.
