Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Matthews, NC store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming store. This entry-level role offers flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with hands-on pet interaction and customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Handle sick/injured pets promptly, including vet transport if needed.
- Maintain store cleanliness, stock shelves, face products, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers while assisting across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, flexibility for variable shifts, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stand/walk extensively, climb ladders, and work in pet hair/noise environments. Exposure to live animals is daily.
