Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, maintains store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. Based in Memphis, TN, this entry-level role offers flexible hours and a chance to work with birds, reptiles, fish, and small animals in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Handle pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats, administer vet-directed meds, and respond to sick pets.
- Execute merchandising tasks like stocking, facing products, price changes, and sales floor recovery.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets while promoting events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; maintain cleanliness and assist store-wide as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in pet-filled environments. Depth perception and animal handling comfort essential.
