Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Middletown, New York, you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a welcoming store environment. This entry-level role offers flexible hours, perfect for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with hands-on pet interaction and customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet customers and prepare pick-up orders.
- Provide direct care for store-owned pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Ensure store cleanliness, safety, and standards; handle sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and recommend merchandise, services, and live pets.
- Promote events like adoption weekends and Treats enrollment; assist across store areas including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, with flexibility for varied shifts. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, climbing ladders, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments. Depth perception and composure essential.
