Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll deliver exceptional experiences for pet parents and their pets. This entry-level role involves customer engagement, pet care, store maintenance, and sales, in a dynamic environment with live animals and high customer traffic.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding pet parent service in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Care for store-owned pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administer vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage merchandise, and support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; handle sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! You need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in pet-heavy environments. Vision for depth perception and tolerance for noise/animal exposure essential.
