Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Mississauga, Ontario, you'll engage pet parents and pets while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy. Share responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and direct pet care. Enjoy flexibility in a dynamic retail environment with evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle animals in a pet hair-filled, sometimes wet environment with moderate to high noise.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet and answer questions.
- Prepare online orders and ensure smooth pick-ups.
- Provide pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish); administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, support pricing/promotions.
- Recommend/sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, parents; handle sick/injured pets and transport to vet if needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—passion for pets is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility, composure under pressure, and physical stamina. Specific vision (depth perception) and ability to stoop/kneel/reach essential.
