Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Mississauga, Ontario store, you'll engage pet parents and pets while upholding PetSmart's vision. Responsibilities include customer service, store maintenance, pet care, and safety. This entry-level role offers flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, perfect for animal lovers seeking rewarding retail work.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environments. Exposure to live animals and wet areas common; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet, answer questions, prepare pick-up orders.
- Provide direct pet care: feed/water/clean habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish); administer vet-directed meds; respond to sick pets.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill/recover products, stage new merchandise, support pricing/promotions.
- Sell merchandise/services/live pets, promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safe environment for associates, pets, parents; assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility, composure under pressure. Ideal candidates thrive in fast-paced retail with physical demands and love interacting with pets/families.
