Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate), you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role offers flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs and handling live animals in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online; greet, answer questions, prepare pick-up orders.
- Provide direct pet care: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish; administer vet-directed medications; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill/recover products, stage new items, support price changes and promotions.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain store safety, cleanliness, and assist across departments including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – passion for pets is key! Must have strong communication, flexibility in scheduling, composure under pressure. Physical abilities: stand/walk extensively, climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair and animals. Depth perception and team lifting for heavier items needed.
