Role Overview
PetSmart's Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences, maintains store standards, and provides direct care for in-store pets. Based in New Orleans, LA, this entry-level role offers flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Manage pet healthcare: feed, water, clean habitats for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and crickets; administer vet-directed meds.
- Uphold store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock shelves, and recover merchandise to sales floor standards.
- Sell products, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Successful candidates have strong communication, composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing). Thrive in moderate-noise, pet-filled environments with occasional wet/hairy conditions.
