Role Overview
Our Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) delivers exceptional pet parent experiences while caring for store pets and maintaining a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role is perfect for animal lovers with flexible availability, offering hands-on pet care, customer engagement, and retail support in a dynamic store setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide direct care for birds, reptiles, small animals, fish, and habitats – including feeding, cleaning, and vet-directed medications.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and promote merchandise, services, events, and adoptions.
- Maintain store standards for cleanliness, safety, and organization; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Flex between departments, follow policies, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – just a passion for pets! We seek strong communicators who thrive in fast-paced environments, handle physical demands (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, climbing), and work evenings/weekends/holidays. Comfort with live animals, composure under pressure, and a team-oriented mindset are key.
Physical Demands & Environment
Expect moderate noise, pet hair, wet areas, and animal handling. Must stand/walk extensively, lift heavy items, and have depth perception.
