Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Newport News, VA, you'll deliver outstanding pet parent experiences, care for store pets, and maintain a clean, safe store. This entry-level position suits animal lovers with flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stoop, kneel, and handle pets. Work in moderate noise with pet hair, wet areas, and live animals. Depth perception required; accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and smooth pickups. Maintain pet habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), administer vet-directed meds, and act swiftly on health issues. Keep store pristine, face/fill products, stage merchandise, support pricing/promos, promote events like adoptions, and assist across departments including services.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Bring strong communication, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and physical stamina. Thrive in fast-paced settings with pets, customers, and team tasks while following policies for safety and excellence.
