Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in our Ottawa, Ontario store, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain a welcoming environment. This entry-level role offers flexibility, weekly pay, and pathways to full-time careers in pet retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Drive sales by recommending products, services, live pets, and promoting events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Execute merchandising: face/fill products, stage new items, handle price changes, and maintain sales floor standards.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive in fast-paced settings, handle pressure calmly, and are available evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, ladder use, and exposure to animals, pet hair, and moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations available.
