Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Pasadena, CA, you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a clean, safe environment. This entry-level role offers flexible hours, evenings/weekends/holidays, and a chance to make a daily impact in pet retail.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment with occasional wet areas and mechanical parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), administer vet-directed meds.
- Stock shelves, face products, execute price changes, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards; respond to sick/injured pets immediately.
- Recommend products, services, and live pets to drive sales.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required. We seek pet lovers with strong communication, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and physical stamina. Specific vision (depth perception) and animal-handling comfort essential.
