Role Overview
Our part-time Pet Associates (Retail Sales Associates) deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding store standards for cleanliness, pet safety, and care. This entry-level role involves customer engagement, pet handling, merchandising, and supporting store operations in a dynamic retail setting with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction through greetings, question-answering, online order prep, and seamless checkouts.
- Provide direct care for store-owned pets: feeding, watering, habitat cleaning (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and vet-directed medications.
- Maintain sales floor: face/fill/recover products, stage new merchandise, execute price changes and promotions.
- Sell merchandise, services, and live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond to sick/injured pets and assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required – pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina (lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments). Depth perception and team-lifting for heavier items needed.
