Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Port Jefferson Station, NY, you'll engage pet parents, care for live animals, and maintain an inviting store. This entry-level role offers flexibility, pet interaction, and pathways to advancement while upholding PetSmart's vision for exceptional pet experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online.
- Provide direct care for store pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, execute price changes, stock merchandise, and recover sales floor.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; handle sick/injured pets and transport to vet as needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Must have strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays), composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise and occasional wet conditions.
