Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Poughkeepsie, NY, you'll engage pet parents and pets, deliver positive experiences, and uphold our vision. Share in store maintenance, pet safety, and direct pet care. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key in this dynamic retail environment.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle animals in moderate noise with pet hair exposure. Reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Care for store pets: feed, water, clean habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, etc.), administer vet-directed meds.
- Maintain cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, handle price changes.
- Sell merchandise/services/live pets, promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, parents; respond to sick pets and transport to vet if needed.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is a plus! Need strong communication, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and physical stamina. Thrive in fast-paced settings with live animals.
