Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in San Jose, CA, you'll engage pet parents and pets, deliver exceptional service, maintain store standards, and care for live animals. This entry-level role offers flexibility, impact, and passion-driven work in a dynamic pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive pet parent satisfaction in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide hands-on care for store pets: feeding, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, fish, small animals), and vet-directed medications.
- Execute merchandising: stock, face, recover products, price changes, and sales floor plans.
- Sell merchandise, services, live pets; promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety, cleanliness, and immediate action for sick/injured pets; assist across store areas.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! Need strong communication, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), composure under pressure. Physically demanding: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, handle animals in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled settings. Depth perception and team lifting essential.
