Role Overview
As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate (Pet Associate) in Santa Maria, California, you'll engage pet parents, care for store pets, and maintain a welcoming store environment. This entry-level role offers flexible hours, perfect for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with hands-on pet interaction and customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding pet parent experiences in-person, phone, register, and online order pickups.
- Provide direct care for store-owned pets: feeding, watering, cleaning habitats (birds, reptiles, small animals, fish), and administering vet-directed medications.
- Maintain store cleanliness, face/fill products, stage new merchandise, and support price changes/promotions.
- Recommend products, services, live pets, and promote events like adoptions and Treats enrollment.
- Ensure safety for associates, pets, and customers; respond immediately to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required—pet passion is key! We seek strong communicators who thrive under pressure, with flexibility for varied shifts. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, ladder use, and exposure to animals, pet hair, and moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations available.
